What is tallow and why is it used in your skincare?

 

 

Tallow is gently rendered animal fat — ours is from ethically raised, grass-fed Scottish cows. Rich in skin-loving vitamins A, D, E, and K, it’s deeply nourishing and incredibly compatible with human skin. Unlike water-based creams, tallow mimics your skin’s natural oils, supporting hydration, elasticity, and barrier repair.

Is tallow greasy or does it absorb into the skin?

 

 

Our tallow blends are whipped with light, fast-absorbing oils like jojoba, raspberry seed, and rosehip — giving a smooth, silky finish that melts beautifully into the skin without leaving a greasy residue.

Is tallow suitable for sensitive or acne-prone skin?

 

 

Yes. Tallow is naturally non-comedogenic, meaning it won’t clog pores. Many people with sensitive, dry, or acne-prone skin find it helps calm inflammation and restore balance. Our products are made in small batches with no synthetic additives — just pure, skin-friendly goodness.

Where do you source your tallow?

 

 

We only use tallow from Scottish grass-fed cows, raised under strict animal welfare standards. Every batch is fully traceable back to the exact farm — something we’re incredibly proud of.

Are your products suitable for children or during pregnancy?

 

 

Yes, most of our products are gentle enough for the whole family, including babies and pregnant women. We always list full ingredients for transparency. If you have specific sensitivities or concerns, we recommend a patch test first.

Do your lip balms and creams contain SPF?

 

 

While we don’t add synthetic sunscreen, ingredients like raspberry seed oil and tallow are known to provide natural sun protection. They’re not a replacement for SPF, but offer a gentle boost — ideal for daily wear.

What’s the shelf life of your products?

 

 

Because we don’t use water or fillers, our tallow-based balms are naturally stable. They typically last 12 months or more if stored in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight.

Do your products contain any preservatives or synthetic ingredients?

 

 

No. We never use synthetic fragrances, parabens, phthalates, or preservatives. Every ingredient is chosen for its purpose and purity. Our products are as close to nature as skincare gets.

Can I use your moisturisers on my face, body, and lips?

 

 

Absolutely. Our Highland Glow Cream is gentle enough for the face but rich enough for elbows, heels, and hands. Many customers love using one product across multiple areas — less waste, fewer products, more glow.

What’s the scent like? Will it smell like beef?

 

 

Not at all. The tallow is carefully rendered to be neutral in scent, and we infuse it with botanical oils like frankincense, lavender, rose, and raspberry. The result is a soft, fresh aroma — never overpowering or “meaty.”

Are your products vegan?

 

 

No — our key ingredient is grass-fed Scottish tallow. We understand it’s not suitable for vegans, but many of our customers choose tallow because it’s local, sustainable, and zero-waste — using every part of the animal respectfully.

Are your products plastic-free?

 

 

Yes. We use metal tins and glass jars to keep our products zero waste and eco-friendly. Our packaging is fully recyclable and beautifully simple — no unnecessary plastics or pumps. (there is a tiny interior lid that comes with the glass jars used to keep the cream in while shipping, it comes with the jars you can recycle it)

Can I personalise your products for gifts or events?

 

 

Yes! We offer custom labels for weddings, baby showers, and corporate gifts. Just contact us with your request — minimum order of 50 applies for personalised tins.
